Having a program using the power of the community to forward security initiatives, help build strong teams, but also empower individuals, all contributes towards making the world we live in a more secure, and better place!

What’s the infosec community referral program?
Refer, connect, or just recommend a fellow infosec professional. We’ll have a conversation, and find meaningful ways to help. We’ll also make sure you get recognition for contributing to their success!
Same goes for opportunities you bring forward to helping with, building or growing your security team. This includes adding new or improving security capabilities, finding a security expert to help with a specific project, at your team or a team or an organization that needs help and you can connect us with.
How can I contribute, get involved and benefit from it?
Do your bit in helping each other within the community, share opportunities, and we’ll make sure that everyone involved benefits.
How it works:
- Refer, connect, or just recommend a fellow infosec professional for any of the roles, projects or as a general introduction for future opportunities to us.
- We’ll engage with them, have a conversation and help with their efforts
- When they are successful in joining a team, picking up a new assignment, or contributing to a project, through our collaboration, we return the #infosecpayitforward for your effort with your choice of reward (cash, training credits, donate to a security initiative or a cause of your choosing, other perks).
- Referrals rewards have an equivalent value of 1000-2500+EUR depending on the role/project.
How does this overlap with Base Cyber Security’s day to day efforts?
Our value comes from helping organizations and individuals, build knowledge and capabilities in information security. Talking, advising and helping infosec individuals and teams, is a big part of our day to day efforts. Utilizing our community reach and understanding, combined with everyone’s input, experience working / collaborating with others, helps broaden the impact and scope on who we, together, can support and help out.
If you’ve been in a team lacking the right capabilities, missing skills and / or good teammates to get things done right, you understand how important being able to find a solution to these, and the difference it makes. Both to your organizations’ and teams’ ability to perform and solve problems, but also to your individual growth, focus on working on the right things, in the right environment and with the right balance of delivering, learning and growing.
For us delivering better quality services, moving faster, and truly giving back to the community, comes from helping catalyzing the community’s power – empowering each other!
How do I take part?
If we’ve collaborated or talked before, you can directly get in touch with your Base contact. You might actually be asked for help first, so in that case, you already know who to do engage with. Or just use the [email protected] and reach out. We’ll be in contact and we’ll guide you through things.

You help others anyway, do it in a better way and get something back via the referral program- get that training you wanted but didn’t have enough education budget or could afford, get that missing tool for your home lab, get some additional funding for your project or just supplement your (so deserved) vacation fund.
We understand what that means, we’ve all been there and we know the realities of a security professional / team. Too many constantly evolving threats, too many things to prioritize from, let alone action! We’ll try and make it as simple as possible and do the work for you, identify individuals or opportunities that can benefit from this program, deciding together on who to engage and how it makes sense for them. You’ve already put in the hard work getting to know them, while fighting in the digital trenches, rapport has been built, common values have been identified – it’s our turn yo help you help them.
Can’t help or benefit, unless you try it, but overall finding a balance of effort and reward is the tricky part to make any such program work. Complementing this with the already good rapport we have with the security community, and bringing years of experience in fighting the good infosec fight, we can hopefully better along to make your contribution meaningful, help others / teams out and give something back to you as well.

Yes! We’re here to help professionals and organizations (and their teams!) build knowledge and capabilities in information security. Helping with your company’s or your team’s needs, is a big part of what we do. So bring it to our attention and would be gladly to get a conversation going and align on how we can help (and of course include the introduction under the referral program!). When we successful deliver the project, or help the team with an assignment or onboarding in a new security team member, we return the #infosecpayitforward for your effort with your choice of reward (cash, training credits, donate to a security initiative or a cause of your choosing, other perks).
Some examples on what could you refer a team / company to us for:
- You team is growing and needs to find a new security team member (or replace one that’s moving up / leaving) and could need help with that
- Your team needs an external contractor to help with a niche security capability or project, or to help with capacity building if extra resources are needed
- Your team needs advice on what it needs and how to develop and grow the team and its capabilities
- Your company needs security services, and could use an external partner to help think with them on properly identifying the requirements, scoping the assignment and getting things done (think security assessments, security architecture reviews, config reviews, pentesting, code reviews, forensics investigation, or a specialty project e.g. building a toolkit for a red team, building a malware development capability etc.)
- Your company needs to build or expand a infosec capability and could need help with that
- Your company needs to start a security a security practice altogether and needs advice and guidance!

Different roles, projects or assignments have different money related dynamics – we strive to give you a range upfront so you know what to expect, but at the end of the day it usually has to do with either the seniority, duration or type of role or project. If it’s an opportunity, it can also be a recurring reward – e.g. you help connecting us with a team that needs help, you’ll be rewarded for every successful linked project or role we fulfill with them.
- Level 1: <1000 EUR
- Level 2: 1000 – 1500 EUR
- Level 3: 1501- 2000 EUR
- Level 4: 2001 – 2500 EUR
- Level 5: 2500+ EUR
