The Chaos Computer Club is thrilled to announce the return of the 37th Chaos Communication Congress (37C3) after a three-year hiatus, taking place from December 27th to December 30th, 2023, at the CCH in Hamburg. Join us for Germany’s esteemed IT security and technical competence conference, marking the largest gathering of Europe’s hacker scene.

Following the success of this year’s Chaos Communication Camp, hackers are eager for more discourse, workshops, and celebration. The digital realm is once again amid significant upheaval: with an increase in mercenary hacks, state Trojans facing legal battles, amplified AI developments, including contentious ideas like chatcontrol, and politicians swayed by lobby promises. Our antidote to this chaos is knowledge, fostering positivity for a digitally promising future, and exploring the potential of universal computers.

At 37C3, we extend an open invitation for all interested individuals to engage. We encourage participation, especially as volunteers (affectionately known as chaos angels). As always, talks will be streamed live and made available on media.ccc.de. Additionally, we’re committed to translating lectures into multiple languages for accessibility.

Given our shorter planning time, ticket sales, via vouchers and open pre-sales, will commence later than usual. Further details will be shared on our event blog soon.

After three years at the Leipziger Messe during the reconstruction of the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH), we’re excited to return to the familiar yet modernized building this year. While our space at the venue is significantly smaller, it offers shorter paths, vertical accessibility, and reduced heating needs. Hamburg’s location also ensures access to ample accommodation and catering facilities.

Although this year’s Congress will see slightly fewer participants than pre-COVID times and fewer stages for the lecture program, stay tuned for the upcoming Call for Participation on our event blog.

Rest assured, unless government authorities prohibit, the 37C3 will proceed as planned with full compliance with infection control regulations. Presently, no specific measures are planned, but we urge participants to assess their health risks before purchasing tickets. Those with cold symptoms are kindly requested not to attend the event.
